Why I Built FluidCare Renal
From the CEO and Founder
When I started my journey in computer science, my goal was always to build technology that could solve real-world problems. I never expected my first major project to become something so personal.
My dad spent eight years on dialysis, and during that time I saw firsthand how difficult fluid and weight management could be. It affected his comfort, energy, and daily life in ways most people never see.
What made the experience unique was that my dad is also a doctor. Even with medical knowledge, he still faced the same challenges as every other dialysis patient. That combination of lived experience and medical insight helped shape what this app needed to become.
What started as a simple tracking tool slowly evolved into a complete system for awareness, consistency, and progress. We worked on it together, building features around real needs and real experiences.
FluidCare Renal was built with the hope of making dialysis life a little easier and helping people feel more in control day by day.
Real-Life Impact
How It Helped My Dad
Since August 2025, my dad has actively tested the app and helped guide its development through real feedback and daily use.
With better awareness and consistency, he was able to manage his fluid intake more effectively and often arrived at dialysis much closer to his dry weight.
That meant less fluid removal during treatments, which reduced strain on his body and helped minimize swelling, cramps, and post-treatment exhaustion.
Most importantly, it helped him continue doing the things he loved. He kept working, performing in musicals, singing in choirs, and staying active in his community instead of feeling limited by dialysis.
These small improvements added up to a noticeably better quality of life and reinforced why this app matters so much to me.
